Art & Wine: Highlights from Our Napa Weekend

03 Nov 2025 Art & Wine: Highlights from Our Napa Weekend

Back in September, a group of our Club members escaped to the sun-drenched valleys of Napa for a weekend where art, architecture and wine came together in perfect harmony. Surrounded by rolling vineyards and golden hills, members were welcomed into private collections and estates rarely open to the public, discovering a quieter, more intimate side of California’s creative landscape.

Our weekend began with an exclusive visit to the home of Pam and Dick Kramlich, a modern architectural masterpiece designed by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron. Twenty years in the making, the residence serves as both a family home and a groundbreaking venue for media art. Members explored a series of reconfigurable galleries designed to adapt to each work’s spatial, acoustic and technical needs: a captivating introduction to a weekend devoted to creativity and connection.

From there, we continued to Bella Union Winery in Rutherford, known for its beautifully blended Cabernet Sauvignon and striking redesign unveiled earlier this year. Members explored the new Jewel Box tasting room, surrounded by sweeping vineyard views, and discovered the winery’s first artist-in-residence, Harold Mendez, whose works are installed throughout the property. As the afternoon light softened over the vines, the group shared conversation, wine and a deep appreciation for art’s place in this storied region.

The next morning began with an artist breakfast at the hotel, offering an intimate opportunity to meet a local artist from the San Francisco or Oakland scene. This exchange of ideas set the tone for a day immersed in art and taste, beginning with a private collection visit and continuing at the iconic Donum Estate, where sculpture and terroir coexist beautifully. Guests toured the estate’s vast outdoor collection before sitting down to a seasonal lunch paired with Donum’s expressive wines for a culinary experience that captured the spirit of Napa itself.

That evening, we gathered at The French Laundry in Yountville, Chef Thomas Keller’s landmark restaurant that helped define Napa Valley dining. The menu showcased thoughtful, seasonal dishes rooted in European tradition, each one executed with calm precision and paired beautifully with local wines. It was an intimate and memorable evening—unhurried, quietly elegant, and unmistakably of this place.

On our final morning, guests enjoyed a private visit to Marciano Estate, a serene property where vineyards, olive trees and contemporary works by artists including Dan Colen and Thomas Houseago sit in quiet harmony. The weekend came to a close with a relaxed lunch at Gott’s Roadside, a Napa institution known for its California-inspired comfort food and effortless charm. It was truly a fitting farewell to an unforgettable few days.

Over three memorable days, our members experienced Napa as few ever do. From private collections and artist residencies to world-class wine and cuisine, this journey revealed the beauty of connection: between artist and collector, land and table, and among the members themselves.
